Lindsays Profile

Lindsay has spent 2010 re-acquainting herself with Grand Prix competitions both at home and abroad with her promising ride Senorita II.  Senorita has made considerable progress since her first Grand Prix outing back in March 2010, to her most recent, being the World Cup qualifier in Kaposvar, Hungary.  The next step is to progress her work to be able to gain high enough marks that will put her in the mix for team selection.

Lindsay's competitive career began as a Three Day Event Rider, switching to Dressage in the early 1990’s.   As an Eventer, Lindsay trained and rode for a number of years with Henrietta Knight.  Her international dressage debut came in 1993 riding the Lippizana mare Felicia under the guidance and tutelage of European Silver Medallist and former National Trainer, Ferdi Eilberg.

In the mid 90’s Lindsay gained the opportunity to take on Ferdi’s former Grand Prix ride the Danish stallion Tapster, sadly this was to be a short career as Tapster passed away in May 1997. However in their short time they enjoyed success at home and abroad and with European Championship qualifying marks to their name were invited to compete in Italy in 1997 just before Tapster’s untimely death.

During Lindsay’s time as a pupil of Ferdi she enjoyed international success with the Oldenburg mare Pikanja, winning as far away as the CDIO in Warsaw, and gaining three top places in the Vienna CDI.

In late 2005 Lindsay began training with German professional trainer Ingo Menze based in Frankfurt, having worked and trained for a number of years with Herbert Boger in the north of Germany. In early 2007, together with husband Mike, Lindsay found the Hanoverian mare Senorita on the yard of German Professionl Champion, Hartwig Burfeind near Bremen in Germany.  Although Lindsay is now based at home she did spend many weeks in late 2009 - early 2010 with Hartwig, to help developing the Grand Prix work with Senorita, and will return to Hartwig's stable this winter.

After a promising start to the 2011 competition season Señorita and Lindsay gained their most promising marks to date at just under 70%, following this Lindsay was invited to ride at the CDI's atHartbury and Hickstead. With the Grand Prix work improving almost by the day and Señorita coming to terms with competition, expectations were high, when sadly tragedy struck in June 2011 when Señorita prematurely died.   A glance at the news story in Lindsay's own words will demonstrate the impact this had.

As with many things in life as one door closes so another opens, although it was not part of the plan at the beginning of the year an opportunity to acquire a new horse presented itself. In September a new ride was secured in the form of the 7 year old Diamonit II by Diamond Hit. Didi is a stallion and born of sport horse royalty, he is now at home and working hard towards fulfilling the evident potential he shows.

Lindsay’s ability to help others has derived from her own very solid training foundation having trained with Henrietta Knight and Ferdi Eilberg, combined with her now extensive experience of the approach adopted by some of Germany's foremost riders, having spent time with Hartwig Burfeind, Herbert Boger, Holga Finken and Ingo Menze.

Aside from riding, Lindsay is also a List 1 Dressage Judge, FEI Event Judge,  an accredited Trainer with British Dressage and has recently been appointed as Central Regional Trainer for British Dressage.
